Sequences and Function Rules
Patterns of numbers can often be described in either table or function form. Both forms have advantages and disadvantages. The algebraic function may take some effort to derive from a table, but it allows us to see far out into the future of the pattern, while the table only gives us a narrow glimpse of the present. Use this activity as a resource as you help your students understand the difference between patterns defined in table and function form and apply that understanding. These problems are from part of Module 3, Lesson 1 from the Engage NY Algebra curriculum.
