Roots of Quadratic Functions: Some Special Cases

Students may struggle to solve quadratic equations for a number of reasons. One reason is all of the special cases that arise with the factoring, such as difference of squares or a binomial with a common factor of "x". Use this activity to help students distinguish between the different strategies for factoring, and to help build connections between factoring and the graph of the corresponding parabola. Students can organize their findings on the table available at http://bit.ly/dabscnotes5
