Parabola Potluck

Students will select from designs made with parabolic functions. They will write equations to match the design. I will encourage students to use lists and challenge them to recreate the designs in as few lines as possible. This activity is different. It is more of a potluck. I will invite them to start with any design that interests them. After they have recreated a few I would encourage them to create their own. This activity is open over the course of the unit. Upon first entering students know standard form for a parabola. They will later encounter vertex and parabola form and hopefully see their usefulness in some of the designs. My students will have previous experience with lists.
