Position, Velocity, and Acceleration

This Activity asks students to look at a graph with the position, velocity and acceleration functions all on the same coordinate plane. They then need to determine which is which. At the end, students are asked to create their own puzzle. These can then easily be shared with the class afterwards to get a bunch of additional similar problems that are student created. Students need to be able to sketch the graph of a derivative in order to do this activity. They also need to know that the derivative of position is velocity and the derivative of velocity is acceleration.
