Exploring S and the Least Squares Regression Line
This problem allows you to explore the sum of the squared residuals and the Least Squares Regression line. This activity can be used as a drop-in replacement for problem 2-31 in lesson 2.1.4 of the CPM Statistics textbook. in addition to giving a visual for the LSRL, this activity also helps with visuals for S, and explores the relationship between the LSRL, the mean value (x-bar, y-bar), and the median value as well! Finally, it allows students to explore influential points with the LSRL.
