Sea Level Rise
This lesson is intended as a first introduction to Desmos for middle & high school students. -- Math content covered: students learn to identify which equation best matches given (x,y) data points. Hopefully, they see that it's normal and even interesting to wonder which equation matches given data. They also receive explicit skill practice in a card sort at the end. -- Desmos content covered: drawing a sketch, dragging points on a graph, and doing card sorts. -- Prerequisites: some familiarity with plotting points, plus enough understanding of order of operations to know that an expression like `2^{3\cdot4}`must be evaluated by doing `3\cdot4` first. -- Pacing notes: I plan to use teacher-pacing, restricting students to one screen at a time until Screen 7. This lesson is part of a sequence: 1). "Sea Level Rise" (this lesson) 2). "Fill it up" https://teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilder/custom/5a3211a9623b8267ea6cf49d
