Pythagorean Triples and Similar Triangles
This is meant as a "warm-up" and Intro to looking at similar families of Pythagorean triples. It relates back to our work with dilations in the previous unit. students can manipulate the lengths of the sides of triangles to make dilations to investigate similar families of right triangles. After this, I plan to do several in class examples where students answer questions on paper/orally if time permits. The goal is that students learn to recognize Pythagorean triples, and can use them as a tool to solve for missing sides of right triangles.
