E-Cigarettes | Mar 6, 2019
E-cigarettes is a hot topic among students, adults, and the government. Are they safe? Addictive? Gateway to cigarettes and marijuana? This graph, which originally appeared in the New York Times, shows tobacco consumption, with e-cigarettes noted, among students for 2011 – 2018. Ask your students to look closely at this graph and discuss what they notice, what they wonder, and ask what headline they would write for the graph. To join an online conversation about the graph moderated by the American Statistical Association, visit the New York Times Learning Network's "What's Going On in this Graph?" website on Wednesday between 9AM and 2PM Eastern. To see the original article that included the graph and other information, visit the New York Times link Thursday afternoon. https://www.nytimes.com/column/whats-going-on-in-this-graph Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ###NYT COLLABORATION### See more of these activities: https://teacher.desmos.com/curriculum/view/5c38d8b9b2e2c80d2230827c
