Calculating Power (Chapter 1)
In this activity, students build an understanding of statistical power by calculating it based off a simulation for a particular scenario. This activity is Part 1, calculating power for the first time. Later parts of the activity will lead students to simulate/calculate how power changes as their sample size and significance level change. The content of this activity originally appeared in "A Powerful Problem," an activity written by John Lieb of The Roxbury Latin School in West Roxbury, MA.
