School Newspaper (Old)
Students extend what they've learned from Lesson 13 to compare two populations based on samples. This lesson introduces the idea that you can determine if there is a big difference between two populations by looking at the difference between the centers of samples and comparing the difference to the measure of variability. This lesson is designed for 90 minutes and may take multiple class periods to complete. NOTE: This lesson is outdated and will be retired. The new and improved School Newspaper can be found in the curriculum.

Learning goals: Learning Goals • Use measures of center and the variability of two samples to decide if two populations are very different. • Measure the difference between the measures of center of two samples with similar variability as a multiple of the measure of variability. Materials • Four-function or scientific calculators
