Energy Conservation Card Sort without score tracker (Kaplo)
Desmos version of a card sort by Patrick Kaplo. This version of the activity leaves out the running count showing students how many they have right/wrong, which can force more meaningful conversations. If you want a version that DOES have the score tracker, it's also in my collection: https://teacher.desmos.com/collection/5fdb9bc951a3ec41dc1b1eac. Personally, I found that the tracker led to students finishing EXTREMELY quickly and I suspect they didn't benefit all that much from it. On the other hand, the no-tracker version can take a really long time and there's no efficient way to give students feedback or let them know if they got it right! Tradeoffs. ::shrug:: Because the original cards from the physical version were pretty large AND there are a lot of them, it can be hard to manage the Desmos cards or even read some of them on smaller screens. Some tips: (1) Clicking/tapping a card once will enlarge it to let you get a better look. (2) Increasing the zoom level in your browser (hitting "control-plus" in Chrome on Windows for example) will enlarge all the cards, but give you less canvas space to move them around on. (3) Conversely, decreasing the zoom will make the cards smaller but give you a lot more room to arrange them. (4) Once cards have been grouped, you can click/tap the triangle on the "N cards" header to collapse them together and free up more real estate. You can also use this to just quickly get a bunch of cards out of your way, even if you plan to separate them again later.
