Lesson 6.1: Does Beyoncé Write Her Own Songs?

This activity allows students to explore the significance of random sampling. Students begin by making a quick estimate of word length, to finding the average word length based on a sample of their choosing, and then finally to calculating the average word length of randomly chosen words. Students also explore the effect of sample size on sampling variance.
