Experiment: Has there been a change in mood?
This version includes the binomial distribution so good for those also studying A level maths. Otherwise use the simplified version. This activity can be used to help students understand research methods, descriptive statistics and inference. Data is collected on mood before and after a deep breathing exercise. The deep breathing exercise can easily be changed to something else. The students are then invited to compare the before and after data informally and then using descriptive statistics. They then begin to think about statistical testing - in this activity they need to carry out the sign test. Thanks to @DeborahSekreta for the breathing slide.
