Dot Talks

Image will appear and then fade. (Adjust length of exposure.) Students given space to explain and illustrate their method of "counting" the dots. A series of Dot Talks involving single color and multi-color arrangements, as well as fractional dots. Copy a slide and use as a Start Task within another activity, or use pacing to focus on only one Dot Talk. Have students complete independently and share their thinking using snapshots or present as whole class Dot Talk.
