Finding Desmo

Students learn standard deviation as a statistic that measures the spread of a data set.  Note: Students will use standard deviation to think about spread in this unit, but they will not need to calculate it by hand. In Algebra 1, students are dealing with the entire population, not sampling, so the population standard deviation is used.
