2-2 Making Numbers Count

In this activity, students will explore sets of data and make sense of numbers. Slide 1: Notes to Your Future Forgetful Self Slide 2: SEL reflection about success. Slide 3: Daily Check-In for bell work. Slide 4: Activity 1 - 100 Numbers task for team building. Slide 5-10: Activity 2 - Water Jug task to create a piecewise function with linear functions. Slide 11-17: Activity 3 - Cow Herding task to create linear and quadratic functions to model a situation. Slide 18: Activity 4 - Mathematical Practices to explain how they were used in this lesson. Slide 19: Wrap Up to allow students to reflect on their understanding and preparedness for the next quiz. Activity 3 begins with a team activity that requires index cards, paper, 280 marbles, textbooks, and tape. Tape off a 1 ft by 1 ft square on the floor. Use the textbooks to create a frame around that square, so the marbles don't go rolling all over, but make sure that the frame is far enough from the square that students will not be able to reach it while remaining outside the frame.
