Grade 1: Representing Teen Numbers as Equations of a 10 and Some Ones

Students learn how to represent teen numbers using the 10 + n structure in this small group mini-lesson. The teacher will model adding and taking away dots to 10-frames on a screen. Students will practice representing teen numbers on their own worksheets. This includes representing 2 missing addends, such as 19 = __ + __ .
