Students practice subitizing — quickly seeing how many objects are in a small set — up to 5 objects to develop their number sense as they describe how they saw different arrangements of dots. New screens added 12/3/2023!

This Math Routine takes 5-10 minutes and can be used at the start of class to build engagement, encourage discourse, and develop number sense. Today's Goals • Develop number sense. • Language Goal: Describe how many. (Speaking and Listening) Prep Checklist • Click Project Screens to show this activity to the class. • Select how long an image is projected for: 1, 2, or 3 seconds; or ∞ (which keeps the image projected). • Screens 1-3 show arrays of dots; Screens 4-6 show arrays of 5-frames; Screens 7-9 show dots of different sizes; Screens 10-5 show dots of different sizes and/or colors
