Grade 3: Representing Division Situations as Unknown Factor Problems

Students deepen their understanding of the relationship between division and multiplication in this small group mini-lesson. The teacher can model creating groups of equal objects, which then displays matching division and multiplication equations. Students then practice on their worksheets by matching division and multiplication equations and representing division situations with both drawings and equations with a letter in place of the unknown.
