Grade 5: Representing Dividing Whole Numbers by Unit Fractions

Students extend their understanding of division by dividing a whole number by a fraction in this small group mini-lesson. Teachers can model different situations and their matching expressions, and discuss the relationship between the fraction divisor and the quotient. Students then practice dividing whole numbers by fractions and writing equations that match situations on their own worksheets.
