Learning goals: Assessment Purpose Assign this mCLASS Beginning-of-Year Screener to identify what knowledge and skills students have to be ready to learn grade-level math. This brief assessment focuses on foundational concepts and uses an asset-based approach to provide insights into what students know, what math assets to leverage, and where students need support. Facilitation Guidelines Before administering this assessment, we recommend that students complete the mCLASS onboarding activity to become familiar with how to answer the questions. During the assessment, we recommend students use headphones as the the instructions and questions can be read aloud to students. Students are allowed to use paper and pencil as needed. Final answers must be entered digitally. Students must provide an answer per question in order to move to the next question. If the student doesn't know the answer, remind them to do the best they can. After the assessment, review student results in the Teacher Dashboard along with what the top responses reveal about students' thinking.
