Perimeter Rhythms: Drums Fills and Cool Licks Using Scale

In lesson, students encounter progressively more complex rhythmic/geometric scenarios. They will apply what they've learned so far about shapes and musical rhythm as they produce drum fills of their own using carefully chosen sets of shapes. Each set of shapes (all side lengths of 1, sides of .5 and 1, etc.) introduces an array of geometric and rhythmic features that are unique to those shapes. Students are challenged to work creativity with perimeter, rates, and ratios to get a musically satisfying result.
