Unit Summary In this domain, students are introduced to classic stories as well as trickster tales and folktales from other cultures. They develop an awareness of language and an understanding that fictional tales can teach valuable lessons. By listening to both familiar and unfamiliar stories and folktales, students discover new vocabulary to apply in discussions and comparison activities about characters, plots, and settings. They learn to identify the role of author and illustrator, and practice orally generating complete sentences. Finally, students use a combination of writing and drawing to share the events of a story.
