Primary Focus of Lesson Foundational Skills • Students will listen to and orally produce the /ae/ sound at the beginning, middle, and end of words. • Students will read and write one-syllable words with the long vowel /ae/ > ‘a_e.’ • As the teacher dictates words, students will segment and blend phonemes to form and write one-syllable words with long vowel /ae/ and short vowel /a/ sounds. Reading • Students will reread “Gran’s Trips” or “The Pet” with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression; and will demonstrate comprehension by retelling the story to a partner.
