Primary Focus of Lesson Language (Grammar) • Students distinguish between common and proper nouns, and will demonstrate understanding by designating nouns read aloud by the teacher as common or proper. Reading • Students will read “The Trip West” with purpose and understanding, and will answer literal, inferential, and evaluative questions about the story. Foundational Skills • Students will distinguish words with long vowel, vowel-consonant-‘e’ sound/spellings from words with short vowel sound/spellings. • Students will read and spell previously taught Tricky Words.
