Primary Focus of Lesson Speaking and Listening • Students will discuss elements of stories. Reading • Students will identify characters, setting, and events in a fairy tale using complete sentences. • Students will review the major differences between fictional stories and informational texts. Language • Students will demonstrate understanding of the Tier 2 word worthy and apply knowledge of the suffix -y as a clue to the meaning of the word. Writing • With assistance, students will use a graphic organizer to retell a fairy tale. Formative Assessment • Exit Pass: Element of the Story: Have students illustrate and write/dictate a sentence about one element of “Cinderella,” either character(s), setting, plot, or conflict.
