Reading • Students will explain how characters’ actions demonstrate specific story themes. • Students will use abstract nouns when identifying and discussing story themes. Foundational Skills • Students will review sounds and syllables with ‘le’ and practice reading multisyllable words. Reading • Students will ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for their answers. Formative Assessment • Themes Description: Paragraph about Themes Write a short paragraph explaining how a character is demonstrating a theme from the story. • Activity Page 5.2: Fire!
