Learning goals: Summary Fluency Practice, made in collaboration with Math for Love, provides students with daily, personalized fluency practice on math facts. Based on the theory of spaced repetition, students more frequently practice the facts they are most likely to forget. When students correctly answer a fact, they won’t see that same fact again for some time — anywhere from 1–2 days to a few weeks, depending upon how many times they have already correctly answered that fact. However, if they answer the fact incorrectly, they will see that fact again the next time they practice. Each time students practice, they will see a total of 30 flashcards. Watch this video to learn more. Teacher Tools Fluency Practice has a separate Teacher Dashboard apart from the teacher tools in Desmos Classroom. On the Fluency Practice dashboard, teachers are able to assign any of the flashcard sets to students and view student progress. The screens in this activity simply provide an overview of this flashcard set. This activity CANNOT be assigned to students. Changing student assignments and other teacher tools related to Fluency Practice are only available on the Fluency Practice dashboard. Read Getting Started with Fluency Practice to learn more. Recommendations Incorporate Fluency Practice into the daily routine for 5–10 minutes. Teachers can assign complete flashcard sets or individual decks to students or classes in the Fluency Practice Teacher Dashboard.
