Students explore the relationships between the radius, diameter, circumference, and area of a circle. Students also practice writing and using equations to calculate missing measurements, which they will revisit in Units 4 and 6.

Sub-Unit 2: Area of a Circle (Lessons 5–10 + Practice Day) • Calculate the areas of circles and complex shapes composed of fractions of circles. • Describe the relationship between the radius of any circle and its area.
