Today’s Goals • Recognize that using a geologic timeline is a way to organize the history of Earth. • Create geologic timelines that use relative dates, not absolute dates. • Observe that determining different parts of the geologic timeline is done by evaluating the fossils found in rocks at different depths. • Language Goal: Students will write their own personal timeline. Students will read, searching for a time frame of specific events in Earth’s history. (Writing and Reading) Duration • This Bite Sized Science Moment takes about 15–20 minutes and can be used in or outside of a Science block. It is designed to be flexibly implemented in your day! Standards • Next Generation Science Standards: MS-ESS1-4, ESS1.C, SEP-6, SEP-2, CCC-3 See At a Glance for Materials, Prep Checklist, and Lesson Preview.
