Today's Goals • Define and practice using terms about Earth's changing landforms. • Language Goal: Students will read vocabulary terms and discuss definitions as well as examples with their group. (Reading, Speaking, and Listening) Prep Checklist • Put students into groups of 4–5. • Click "Present" when you are ready to start the lesson. Lesson Preview • Students must connect definitions, examples, and images to the correct vocabulary term. Vocabulary Terms and Definitions aquifer: an underground area made from rock or sediment that stores groundwater canyon: a deep gorge formed by a river through weathering and erosion delta: land formed at the place where a river empties into a larger body of water deposition: when sediments are left in a new location erosion: when sediments are moved by wind, water, or ice fjord: a deep valley formed by a glacier that opens into the sea glacier: large ice that moves slowly ocean: a large collection of salt water that covers about 71% of Earth river: a stream of water that flows to an area of lower elevation sediments: tiny pieces of rock or minerals weathering: when rocks or minerals are broken down wind: air moving in a specific direction
