Brake Point

Students design an alert system for drivers that helps them avoid collisions. Students simulate a car’s braking distance at various speeds. Students use root functions and radical inequalities to model the relationship and describe when the alert should tell the driver to brake.  Modeling: This lesson attends to the full intent of the modeling process.
