Favorite Flags: Areas of parallelograms and triangles with fractions

The purpose of this activity is for students to find areas of parallelograms and triangles using fraction multiplication and division. Students begin by reviewing how to find areas using whole numbers. Students then practice with progressively more difficult fraction area problems, including those with missing side lengths. The activity ends with a Challenge Creator where students design their own pennant flag and find its area. **Photos are either open source or taken by me.
