Grade 7 Math Lessons
Students learn about proportional relationships, probability, the angles of triangles, and more. Many of these lessons come from our complete, standards-aligned math program, Amplify Desmos Math.
Grades: 7th Grade

Scale Drawings
Students explore scale drawings and scaled copies. They describe how scaling affects lengths, angles, and areas in scaled copies, and create and compare scaled copies.

Introducing Proportional Relationships
Students explore equivalent ratios, reciprocal relationships, and what a proportional relationship looks like graphically.
- Paint
- Two and Two
- DinoPops
- Gallon Challenge
Measuring Circles
Students estimate and calculate circumference and explore the relationship between circumference and area to derive a formula for the area of a circle. They’ll apply that formula to solve problems involving areas of circles as well as complex shapes.
- Measuring Around
- Why Pi?
- Area Challenges
Proportional Relationships and Percentages
Students apply what they have learned about proportional relationships to solve problems involving percent change, and practice writing and using equations of proportional relationships.

- Percent Machines
Operations with Positive and Negative Numbers
Students develop models to add and subtract integers and rational numbers, and then make sense of multiplying positive and negative integers.
- Floats and Anchors
- More Floats and Anchors
- Draw Your Own
- Integer Puzzles
Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities
Students learn how to solve equations of the form px + q = r and p(x + q) = r in and out of context. They also rewrite equivalent expressions using fewer terms by adding, expanding, and factoring, and solve inequalities with positive and negative numbers.

Angles, Triangles, and Prisms
In this unit, students solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measures, volume, and surface area. They explore complementary and supplementary angles, determine missing angles measures, and reason about the characteristics of segment lengths.

- Missing Measures
- Can You Build It?
Probability and Sampling
Students compare the probability of unknown events and compare the results of repeated experiments to the probability, as well as explore the advantages and disadvantages of using samples to answer questions.
